What to Expect
Your first contact with me
There are face-to-face appointments and remote appointments using Zoom.

I offer a free 15-minute initial chat.

When we speak, I’ll get a sense of what the issue is and it’s a good chance to see if we both feel it’s possible to work well together.

A good indicator of a successful time in therapy is whether you feel comfortable with me, so its important to get an idea of who you will be speaking with.

If we both feel we can make progress we can arrange an appointment at one of the clinics I work from locally or we can arrange a time for a zoom consultation.
Continuing together

Subsequent sessions will be an hour long unless longer is required.
You will be offered a combination of hypnosis, breathing skills, relaxation skils, mindfulness, cognitive and behavioural interventions.

My focus is on supplying you with the skills relevant to your situation that enable you to eventually be your own therapist and in this way its often shorter than other talking therapies.

Your active involvement will be key to success.
This is another really important part of this kind of therapy as it’s designed to teach you how to use what you've learnt in therapy and put it in to practice in your life.

That’s why I see them as skills for life.

Initial session
The first session is normally about one and a half hours long.
I'll explain more about what to expect, answer any questions you might have and hopefully fill in any gaps in your understanding about the process.
I’ll also ask you to fill in a few forms that will help me further understand what’s happening for you at the moment.
Together we'll formulate an initial plan of action on what we will be doing and roughly how many sessions it will take to help you accomplish your goals.
This is important as it puts a strong structure in place to work towards, dont worry about this though as we will be looking at this together.

There may be chance towards the end to have the first hypnosis session or other experience.
To gain maximum benefit you may be asked to do some work in between sessions, this is aimed at applying the learning from the therapy room into your life.
